Contribute to our Old Time Crowdfunding Campaign. Help us make You Gave Me A Song.

At 83, Alice Gerrard is one of America's living treasures. She continues to create new music, perform with diverse collaborators at venues large and small, and inspire the next generation of old time and Americana musicians.

This is the time to make this film. You can help us do it.

The Old Time Crowdfunding Campaign

We are excited to launch the Old Time Crowdfunding Campaign with a goal to raise $35,000 (maybe set to $20K?) in August and September 2017. As with most crowdfunding projects, we will surpass our goal with many smaller contributions, a bunch of medium sized contributions, and a handful of larger contributions. We welcome all levels of support and all shapes and sizes of generousity.

In addition to making your own donation to help finish the film,  your efforts to recruit your own circle of film supporters, share this web page, and to spread the word via your social and music networks are all critical to our success. It takes a village. And we are counting on you to help us build community around the film.

Project update

We have launched this campaign help us complete production work and begin the long road of editing the film. On the production front, Kenny is making plans to travel across the country to interview Alice's family, friends, and collaborators. He will be hiring cinematographers to work with him on these shoots.  Kenny and Alice are also looking for opportunities to shoot additional scenes related to the film story. Our fundraiser will also support the start of post production work to begin Fall of 2017 and run into 2018.

Folks are asking, "When can we see the film?" Our plan is to reach our total fundraising goal of $120,000 by early 2017. This Old Time Crowdfunding Campaign is an important piece of this goal and it would be great if we blast past $20,000

You can also contribute by mailing a check made out to "The Southern Documentary Fund" with "Alice Project" in memo line to:
The Groove Productions
1607 Hermitage Court
Durham, North Carolina 27707

The filmmakers, after consulting with Alice, will send a portion of all proceeds to the Southern Poverty Law Center.
